Grand Circus

Created in the 1860's, the five-acre Grand Circus Park now anchors a growing residential district while also being the gateway to Downtown’s entertainment district surrounded by a number of the city’s favorite attractions, such as Comerica Park, The Fox Theatre, Detroit Opera House, Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena, and The Fillmore.

Recently upgraded, the park has new seating and guest areas, gardens, a beloved dog park for Downtown residents and two beautiful historic fountains. Grand Circus Park is also home to free special events of live theater, opera, music, literary readings, street performances, and others.

Beacon Park Kicks Off Brand New Winter Programming with ‘Light Up Beacon Park!’ Holiday Party on the Night of Tree Lighting

The November 17 party will feature a performance by “Queen of Blues” Thornetta Davis, a live stream of tree lighting at Campus Martius Park, free shuttles, interactive light displays, visits with Santa, food trucks, bars and more!

DETROIT - NOV 8, 2017 – The DTE Energy Foundation and the Downtown Detroit Partnership are excited to announce that Downtown Detroit’s newest public space will kick off a spectacular and innovative season of winter programming with Light Up Beacon Park on November 17 from

5 p.m. to midnight. The holiday party marks the first time in Detroit Tree Lighting history that the family-favorite tradition will expand its entertainment to two separate Downtown parks with free shuttles between the two public spaces. It also kicks off the beginning of Beacon Park’s winter programming schedule filled with silent discos, a beer and wine festival, visits with Santa and much more.

The Downtown Detroit Partnership and DTE Energy Foundation are proud to present the Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 17 at Campus Martius Park.

DETROIT, Mich., Nov. 1, 2017 – For the 14th consecutive year, the Downtown Detroit Partnership continues one of the city’s most highly anticipated holiday celebrations - the annual Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony. Brought to you by DTE Energy Foundation, the event will feature a Michigan-grown, 60-foot Norwegian Spruce wrapped in more than 19,000 multi-colored lights and ornaments. The event begins at 5 p.m. and is free to the public.

Capitol Park redesign plan includes more greenery, focus on history

The Downtown Detroit Partnership revealed renderings for the Capitol Park Historic District redesign at a community meeting Monday evening.

DDP CEO Eric Larson and Public Work principals Adam Nicklin and Marc Ryan, among other officials, were on hand at DIME Detroit to get public feedback on the proposed concepts.
